The Fruit Valley Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors, currently consisting of three directors. Additionally an Executive Director reports directly to the Board and, along with the all volunteer staff, administers the operations of the Foundation. The Board Members are:
Winnie Kane
Winnie is is connected to Fruit Valley through her work at Nustar Energy, a company whose employees, at all levels, live out the value of giving back to their community. She is a former employee of the City Club of Portland, and a former board member of the YWCA of Portland. Her passion lies in helping those in the community enrich and improve their daily lives by assisting them in the development of the basic skills needed for success. That passion is also lived out in her role as a volunteer teacher for Junior Achievement here in Clark County.
Merrill Firestone
The Firestone Family has been farming in Fruit Valley since 1850! Merril and his wife Doris have continued the long history of involvement and support in this community. They sold part of their farm to make possible the new elementary school and have set up a perpetual fund to allow for more field trips and learning experiences. Fruit Valley is rooted deep in Merril’s heart. He loves this neighborhood and its children and relishes in the fact that hard work, determination, and pride are growing stronger here.
Sally Haskin
Sally is a long time supporter of Fruit Valley through her efforts as a Lunch-Buddy and work with the Family Resource Center. Seeing the Foundation as a way to help coordinate all of the efforts in Fruit Valley was a large draw to her. Her objective is to make sure there is a continuous, steady stream of help available to those who need it. Along with her work on the Foundation Board she is a member of the Evergreen Women’s Club which sponsors an annual poetry contest that helps propel young writers toward success.
Greg McGreevey
Greg is also the founder of the Fruit Valley Foundation. His work in the neighborhood has grown out of his participation at River's Edge Church and is focused on “helping people learn to help themselves”. Greg’s philosophy is that, as private citizens, we should be doing much to help our neighbors meet basic needs and develop skills for a better life. He lives in Vancouver with his wife Laura and two sons, Owen and Grant. Greg was the 2005 Marshall Public Leadership Award recipient, recognizing his work on the Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Washington.
